Dangerdoom - The Mouse and The Mask (2005)

The hugely successful collaboration with MF Doom on the mic and Danger Mouse on the beats. Check it!

RYM - 3.68/5

MF Doom - Born Like This (2009)

The brand new album from MF Doom (who has just changed his name to DOOM), a long awaited and highly anticipated album. Has been getting mixed reviews but I reckon it's great.

RYM - 3.49/5

The Transformers - The Movie OST/Score (1986)

The movie and soundtrack that I grew up with, completely corny and painfully 80's... but I adore every second of it. The links are to both the original soundtrack (which features such esteemed musicians as Stan Bush, NRG & Spectre General) and the original score composed by Vince DiCola (he also did the Rocky movies)... YOU GOT THE TOUCH!

RYM - 3.76/5

Dirk Diggler hammering Stan Bush's "You Got The Touch" from Boogie Nights...

A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms (2000)

Another of my all time favourites, a timeless hard rock album. Flawless.

RYM - 3.74/5

Video for "3 Libra's"

Gotye - Like Drawing Blood (2006)

This is the latest offering from Melbourne musician Wally De Backer, who records under the name Gotye, a really cool record, wally mixes his skills as a multi instrumentalist with some pretty clever sampling to create a unique sounding aussie album.

The best pop album that I've heard and a real high point in recent Australian music. A dreamy and very beautiful album.

RYM - 3.97/5

The Roots - Phrenology (2002)

Probably the best hip hop band of the last decade... so, so tight.

RYM - 3.75/5

Murder by Death - Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them? (2003)

Wikipedia describes Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them? as a concept album detailing the arrival of the devil in a town in Mexico. The devil is wounded and the citizens nurse him back to health and a war ensues between the village and the devil. It doesn't sound like an album could get much cooler than that, right? Well, it really can't.

RYM - 3.68/5

Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution - A Call to Arms (2001)

An 18 minute long blast of ska punk, brilliant little EP.

RYM - 3.96/5

This is the best heavy album I've ever heard, epic in every sense, a life changing album.

RYM - 4.07/5

A fan video for the track "Lateralus".

Fear Factory - Obsolete (1998)

One of my all time fave metal albums... even though it's a concept album. Loud, fast, robotic and brutal it's everything you expect from a Fear factory release but it's the melodies that separate it from it's contemporaries.

RYM - 3.62/5

Placebo - Sleeping With Ghosts (2003)

The highpoint in the careers of these British alt-rockers, full of sing along tunes, this is a cool listen. New album due out later this year, I'm betting it will be shit though... Cover has great side boob to!

RYM - 3.47/5

Cursive - Domestica (2000)

A really eclectic band, this is Cursive's third (of 6) studio release, they seem to change their sound on each record, on "Domestica" they branch into post hardcore/emo/indie rock territory... and do it very fuckin well.

RYM - 3.78/5

Belle and Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress (2003)

One of the worlds most criminally overlooked indie pop bands, this, like just about everything else they have released, is a sublime and joyful listen.

RYM - 3.73/5

Death Cab For Cutie - Plans (2005)

I love this album, alot of long time fans loathe it, what do you think?

RYM - 3.53/5

Great indie rock/post hardcore album, super consistent band, new album due out later in the year promises to be a cracker.

RYM - 3.98/5

Radiohead - Kid A (2000)

Completely unexpected album, a complete change in their sound. It cemented their status as the worlds most important band. Classic.

RYM - 4.18/5

The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free (2004)

Wasn't quite as succesful as his debut a few years earlier but still a damn fine record. It had me hooked from the start and I can still listen to it as whole 5 years later and marvel at Mike Skinner's brilliance.

RYM - 3.55/5

Cat Power - You Are Free (2003)

Great indie folk album, first half is brilliant, second half tapers a bit but all in all it's pretty great.

RYM - 3.87/5

Amadou and Miriam - Welcome To Mali (2008)

Really fun.

RYM - 3.53/5

Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle (2009)

The follow up to "Woke On A Whale Heart", this is the second album that Bill has released using his own name instead of the moniker "Smog". Really gorgeous album, I'm loving it.

Really beautiful ambient/post rock album from this unsigned band from Townsville, Australia.

RYM - 3.75/5

Blink-182 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001)

For me anyway, this was the turning point for this band, when they really started to make some memorable music, some really cool pop punk.

RYM - 3/5

Blink-182 - Blink-182 (2003)

A pop punk album of the highest quality, easily their most polished album. Such a shame they called it quits when they did, a reunion is on the cards though, so something cool could be just around the crner.

RYM - 3.22/5

John Frusciante - Shadows Collide With People (2004)

My favourite Frusciante record, poppy and uplifting, this is one of his more accessible efforts.

RYM - 3.72/5

A fan video of the track "Second Walk", which is my favourite track off of the album. The album version features some of Frusciante's best guitar work... but for something different here is a piano cover version of the song.

Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American (2001)

The breakthrough album for Jimmy Eat World and one of the highlights of 2001.

RYM - 3.62/5

The second album from the Perth based band, raw, gritty and bordering on the avant garde, this was a favourite of Pitchfork media last year.

RYM - 3.6/5

Leader Cheetah - The Sunspot Letters (2009)

New band hailing from the Adelaide hills in South Australia, their debut record... sounds alot like Neil Young.

RYM - 3.25/5

The new album from gun New York 3 piece, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Much more poppy and much less gritty than their previous albums, check it out.

RYM - 3.16/5

Silversun Pickups - Swoon (2009)

GET IT WHILE IT LASTS!

RYM - 3.17/5

Explosions In The Sky - All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone (2007)

Probably their most inconsistant release but it's worth getting for the track "The Birth & Death Of The Day" alone.

RYM - 3.57/5

A fan video to the track "The Birth & Death Of The Day", one of my favourite pieces of music, it will destroy you!

The debut album from this Swedish indie pop artist came out last year, a sweet listen.

RYM - 3.37/5
