John Frusciante - Smile From The Streets You Hold (1997)

The second solo record from the Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist, recorded over a period of about 10 years it represents an artist at the height of their drug addiction. John has been quoted as saying he only recorded the album in the hope of making drug money and consequently he had it pulled from record store shelves in 1998. It remains an intense and dark listen and gives glimpses as too what John was going through during his darkest days. Bordering on the avant garde this will not be for everybody but if you are up for the challenge then this is essential.
