The brand new album from MF Doom (who has just changed his name to DOOM), a long awaited and highly anticipated album. Has been getting mixed reviews but I reckon it's great.
The movie and soundtrack that I grew up with, completely corny and painfully 80's... but I adore every second of it. The links are to both the original soundtrack (which features such esteemed musicians as Stan Bush, NRG & Spectre General) and the original score composed by Vince DiCola (he also did the Rocky movies)... YOU GOT THE TOUCH!

Dirk Diggler hammering Stan Bush's "You Got The Touch" from Boogie Nights...
This is the latest offering from Melbourne musician Wally De Backer, who records under the name Gotye, a really cool record, wally mixes his skills as a multi instrumentalist with some pretty clever sampling to create a unique sounding aussie album.
Wikipedia describes Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them? as a concept album detailing the arrival of the devil in a town in Mexico. The devil is wounded and the citizens nurse him back to health and a war ensues between the village and the devil. It doesn't sound like an album could get much cooler than that, right? Well, it really can't.
One of my all time fave metal albums... even though it's a concept album. Loud, fast, robotic and brutal it's everything you expect from a Fear factory release but it's the melodies that separate it from it's contemporaries.
The highpoint in the careers of these British alt-rockers, full of sing along tunes, this is a cool listen. New album due out later this year, I'm betting it will be shit though... Cover has great side boob to!
A really eclectic band, this is Cursive's third (of 6) studio release, they seem to change their sound on each record, on "Domestica" they branch into post hardcore/emo/indie rock territory... and do it very fuckin well.
One of the worlds most criminally overlooked indie pop bands, this, like just about everything else they have released, is a sublime and joyful listen.
Wasn't quite as succesful as his debut a few years earlier but still a damn fine record. It had me hooked from the start and I can still listen to it as whole 5 years later and marvel at Mike Skinner's brilliance.
The follow up to "Woke On A Whale Heart", this is the second album that Bill has released using his own name instead of the moniker "Smog". Really gorgeous album, I'm loving it.
A pop punk album of the highest quality, easily their most polished album. Such a shame they called it quits when they did, a reunion is on the cards though, so something cool could be just around the crner.
My favourite Frusciante record, poppy and uplifting, this is one of his more accessible efforts.

A fan video of the track "Second Walk", which is my favourite track off of the album. The album version features some of Frusciante's best guitar work... but for something different here is a piano cover version of the song.
God 2008 was a great year for indie music, this is another one of the stellar releases from last year, acclaimed the world over, check out the latest from Deerhunter.
Saw these guys live recently and they were really great, this is their only studio release, they have a follow up album due out later this year, so this should get you warmed up... features Walter from Gorilla Biscuits and Quicksand.
