Conor Oberst reminds me of Bob Dylan... dumb call? maybe. This is one of his best releases under the Bright Eyes project. He has since released a solo album and an album with his mystic valley band. Busy dude.
The first album from Kayo Dot, a band that rose from the ashes of Maudlin Of The Well. This isn't for everybody, but those with an open ear and some patience are in for a special listening experience.
Almost 60 minutes long with 3 tracks... this is a monstrous post rock album that will either thrill you and inspire you to do great things... or put you too sleep.
A straight up alt rock album that has really grown on me, I like a lot of people dismissed this band as garbage on the first listen but on further inspection found them to be pretty special... see what you think.
Is it me? Or has 2009 so far delivered very little in terms of high quality new music? Any thoughts? Do you have any recommendations or albums on yourwishlist? Let me know!
An essential hardcore album from a largely unknown band, this is basically their entire discography (a few EP's) released on one record. Screamo + viola = fuckin cool.
Really cool art/pop album, some would argue that it's a pretty disposable release but I reckon it's a fun and easy listen. New album out sometime soon, should be good.
An emo mashup album, released for free a couple of years back, it recieved a mixed reception. See what you think (download is direct from their lastfm page).
Cool little release from the crazy little Japanese dude Shugo Tokumaru, more of an EP than an album, it contains 3 new tracks and a few remixes/alt versions of older tracks... still cool though.
Amazing release from last year, one of the more original sounding records from recent times. Mixes touches of avant garde and prog with eastern influences... some of the most amazing vocals I've heard too. Check it out.
